Snipcart

Snipcart is a shopping cart that you add to any website with a few lines of HTML and JavaScript. Instead of moving a site onto an e-commerce platform, you mark up product buttons with data attributes, include Snipcart's script, and it provides a full cart and checkout overlay, payment processing and an admin dashboard for orders. Its natural home is developer-built sites. Static sites generated with tools such as Hugo, Gatsby, Eleventy, Astro or Next.js, and sites built on headless CMSs, often have no server-side commerce layer and no wish to adopt one. Snipcart lets them sell without changing their architecture: the product catalogue can live in the site's own content, and the cart behaves the same whatever framework rendered the page. The feature set covers what small and mid-sized stores need: physical and digital products, product variants and custom fields, taxes and shipping rates with carrier integrations, discounts and abandoned-cart recovery, subscriptions, multiple currencies and languages, customer accounts, and webhooks plus an API for custom logic. The cart's look can be customised with templates and CSS, and payment gateways such as Stripe and PayPal handle the money. Pricing has been based on a percentage of sales rather than a large monthly fee, which suits small stores with variable revenue but becomes less attractive than flat-fee platforms at high volume. Because it is a client-side cart overlay, it is less suited to very large catalogues or merchants needing deep operations tooling such as inventory across warehouses, point-of-sale and marketplace integrations.
