Kit

Kit, formerly called ConvertKit, is an email marketing platform built for creators. Writers, podcasters, YouTubers, educators and other independent creators use it to grow an email list, send newsletters and run automated email sequences that turn subscribers into customers. It has always focused on creators rather than corporate marketing teams. Instead of complex campaign tools designed for large businesses, Kit emphasises what an independent creator needs: sign-up forms and landing pages to capture subscribers, tags and segments based on interests and behaviour, visual automations such as welcome sequences and course launches, and plain, readable emails that feel personal rather than heavily designed. The rebrand from ConvertKit to Kit in 2024 reflected a broader ambition to be the operating system for a creator's business. Monetisation features set it apart from general email tools. Creators can sell digital products and run paid newsletter subscriptions directly through Kit, and the Creator Network lets creators recommend each other's newsletters, which has become a meaningful source of subscriber growth. Sponsorship tools connect newsletters with advertisers, and integrations link to course platforms, stores and membership tools. A free plan supports a limited number of subscribers with core features, and paid plans scale by list size, which means costs rise as an audience grows. Compared with all-in-one platforms, Kit is focused on email, so creators usually pair it with a separate course or community platform. Alternatives include beehiiv and Substack for newsletter-first creators with built-in growth and monetisation; MailerLite for affordable email marketing; Mailchimp for general small-business marketing; Flodesk for design-focused emails; Loops for SaaS product email; and Kajabi or Podia for all-in-one creator businesses. Choose Kit when you are a creator who wants email automation, audience growth and simple monetisation in one focused platform. Choose a newsletter platform such as beehiiv if a hosted publication with built-in web archive matters more.
